Job Overview:
The MGA Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring NetBet’s operations to fully comply with the requirements of the MGA and other applicable laws for the relevant jurisdictions for which the license has coverage. The role covers licensing obligations, AML/CTF, advertising restrictions, consumer protection, and safer gambling. Acting as the local compliance focal point, the officer supports the Head of Compliance by implementing internal frameworks, monitoring regulatory changes, preparing reports, and liaising with MGA regulators. The role ensures that business growth is achieved while maintaining integrity, player protection, and regulatory assurance.
Key Responsibilities:
Governance & Advisory:
- Maintain compliance frameworks aligned with MGA requirements, including AML, customer interaction, and marketing controls.
- Assist in the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular and ad hoc reviews of the company’s compliance with regulatory requirements. Monitor MGA regulatory changes (MGA guidance, FCA/AML/FATF updates, NRA/SNRA where relevant) and advise on operational impact.
- Prepare and deliver compliance reports to senior management, summarising MGA regulatory risks, trends, and outcomes.
- Advise the Head of Compliance and business units on ethical practices, conflict management and third party compliance.
- Optimise processes to support customer retention and ongoing engagement and ensure compliance controls are implemented with minimal friction to the player journey.
- Work with product and operational teams to streamline compliance workflows.
- Prepare reports for the Head of Compliance summarizing compliance findings, trends and remediation progress.
Regulatory Engagement:
- Act as a point of contact for the MGA and support responses to regulatory information requests.
- Coordinate and manage regulatory audits and inspections by the MGA, ensuring timely provision of information, clear responses to findings, and effective follow-up on remediation actions.
- Prepare, review, and submit all required regulatory returns, key event notifications, and ad[1]hoc submissions to the MGA and other relevant bodies, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery.
- Oversee the handling of customer claims and disputes (internal and external) in line with regulatory standards.
Monitoring & Controls:
- Conduct regular reviews of customer activity, payments, and marketing practices for compliance with MGA rules.
- Collaborate with the MLRO to ensure effective operation of AML/CTF controls Identify compliance gaps and coordinate remedial action with operational teams.
- Review promotional materials, affiliate activity, and sponsorships to ensure compliance with strict Italian advertising restrictions.
- Identify compliance risks and recommend corrective actions.
Training and Awareness:
- Deliver MGA-focused compliance and safer gambling training to frontline teams.
- Assist with the development of compliance training content.
- Foster awareness of MGA obligations across departments, promoting a culture of responsibility and compliance.
Skills and Qualifications:
- 2+ years’ experience in compliance, preferably within the online gambling, fintech, or financial services sector.
- Solid knowledge of the MGA Implementing Procedures and Regulatory Requirements in relation to , AML/CTF ,safer gambling, marketing, licensing conditions, and all relevant reporting requirements.
- Strong understanding of the ADR reporting process from recognized dispute resolution bodies like eCogra or IBAS.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills with attention to detail.
- Fluent English (written and spoken).
